  • Portion size strongly influences consumption — doubling portion size leads to 35% more consumption on average1
  • Effect is curvilinear: diminishes at extreme portion sizes (people don't consume proportionally more from ever-larger portions)1
  • Effect is widespread and robust across individual and environmental factors, but weaker among children, women, overweight individuals, and when eating attentively1
