The paper that refuses both confident answers. Rather than adding data, it asks two symmetrical questions — whether the evidence marshalled against ego depletion should convince a proponent that the effect does not exist, and whether the arguments available in its defence should convince a skeptic that it does — and concludes that despite several hundred published studies the available evidence is inconclusive.
