Steinberg DM, Bennett GG, Askew S, Tate DF. Weighing every day matters: daily weighing improves weight loss and adoption of weight control behaviors. Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. 2015 Apr;115(4):511-518. doi: 10.1016/j.jand.2014.12.011
Why we cite it
A secondary analysis from the WEIGH RCT reporting that daily self-weighing produces significantly greater weight loss and behaviour adoption than weighing most days of the week — in a treatment-seeking overweight adult population. Its participants were motivated adults enrolled in a weight-loss trial; a 2015 review (Pacanowski et al.) finds self-weighing benefits mainly in treatment-seeking populations.
