Why we cite it

The first study to examine the individual facets of self-compassion (self-kindness, common humanity, mindfulness) separately in the context of real-world dietary lapses, using ecological momentary assessment (EMA) to capture responses as they occur in daily life. Demonstrates that self-kindness specifically — not just overall self-compassion — drives the adaptive response to dietary setbacks, while also showing that self-compassion does not increase the likelihood of further lapses (addressing the complacency concern).
