Why we cite it

Communication study examining how relational context — not just general relationship quality — shapes perceptions of partner support strategies during weight loss. Identifies four distinct relational climates (synchronized, contentious cooperatives, autonomous, lone battlers) and finds that team effort is the strongest predictor of perceiving partner strategies as both more frequent and more effective, independent of relationship satisfaction. Referenced in companion 169 for partner dynamics during dietary change.
