Why we cite it
A controlled experimental test of the protein leverage hypothesis in lean humans. Demonstrates that diluting dietary protein from 15% to 10% of energy increases total intake by 12%, primarily through snacking, while increasing protein to 25% does not proportionally reduce intake — revealing an asymmetric leverage effect. This asymmetry is important for the project: it means that protein dilution in ultra-processed food environments reliably drives overconsumption, but simply adding protein may not fully reverse it.
