Why we cite it
Supplies, first-hand and in full, the result the corpus has been relaying in one sentence. It also changes how that sentence should be weighted, in two ways this record exists to make visible.
First, the corroboration is not independent. `kci01` currently notes that the finding “reaches us second-hand through a review arguing for the model it supports.” The stronger and more exact statement is that the review’s two authors are also authors of the study. `cif02` citing this paper is not a review reporting an independent line of evidence; it is investigators citing their own work. Both are legitimate publications, and the pairing is not a defect in either — but a page that reads “a review reports that a study found…” is being told about two sources where there is, in the relevant sense, one team.
