Why we cite it
Prospective NWCR study (n=3,003, 82% follow-up at 1 year) examining self-weighing frequency as a predictor of weight maintenance. Key finding is that the *change* in weighing frequency — not just baseline frequency — independently predicts weight regain. Those who decreased weighing frequency regained 4.0 kg vs 1.1 kg for those who increased. Supports the mechanism that self-weighing enables early detection and correction of weight gains before they escalate.
