Why we cite it
A phase 2 RCT (n = 201) of the MB-BP mindfulness programme against enhanced usual care. The authors’ own priority claim, hedged: ”To our knowledge, no adequately powered randomized clinical trials (RCTs) have investigated the effects of mindfulness training on dietary patterns known to influence hypertension”. Interoceptive awareness improved against control (MAIA +0.54; P < .001). The DASH result is narrower than it first looks: against control, the significant improvement is in the subgroup with poor baseline adherence (+0.62; P = .01); across all participants the +0.34 improvement is "from baseline", and the between-group estimate the authors attach their serving illustration to is +0.32, P = .08.
