Why we cite it
Tests three diet-quality measures against metabolic syndrome in 811 Cree (Eeyouch) adults from seven James Bay communities. Of the three, only the NOVA ultra-processed share was significantly associated. It supplies the metabolic-syndrome association the NOVA authors’ commentary summarises, with the scope that summary drops: cross-sectional, one Indigenous population with very high baseline prevalence, and the authors say it cannot establish causation.
