Why we cite it
A cross-sectional analysis of Canada’s 2004 national nutrition survey linking the energy share of ultra-processed food to obesity. It supplies one of the obesity associations the NOVA authors’ commentary summarises. Its design cannot establish direction: the authors themselves flag reverse causality and day-to-day variation in single 24-hour recalls.
