Why we cite it
Randomized crossover trial demonstrating that flavanol-rich dark chocolate (not chocolate generally) improves cardiovascular and metabolic markers in a high-risk population. The crossover design with isocaloric flavanol-free white chocolate as control isolates the effect of cocoa flavanols specifically. Relevant to the project’s treatment of dark chocolate as a food with genuine health benefits when quality (flavanol content) is considered.
