Many “emergency” stashes are treat foods disguised as preparedness. Protein bars often contain as much sugar as candy. True emergency food should be genuinely healthy, not a trigger, and boring enough not to tempt you during non-emergencies. Better options: single-serve nuts, jerky, canned fish. Or question whether you need the category at all.
