Why we cite it
Research-based relationship guide built on Gottman's decades of observational research at the University of Washington. Identifies the "Four Horsemen" (criticism, contempt, defensiveness, stonewalling) as predictors of relationship failure, and presents seven principles for strengthening partnerships. Relevant to the project through the "turning toward" concept and communication patterns when one partner changes eating habits. Referenced in companion 229 for partnership communication.
