About the author
The Clean Label Project Foundation is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Denver, Colorado, focused on safety and transparency in consumer product labeling. Executive Director: Jaclyn Bowen, MPH, MS, a food and consumer product quality/safety engineer with 20+ years of industry experience. Scientific advisor: Hannah Gardener, ScD, epidemiologist (formerly University of Miami Medical School). Testing performed by Ellipse Analytics, an independent ISO 17025-accredited laboratory. The organization uses Nielsen/IRI sales data to select products, purchases them at retail, and tests for 200+ contaminants. Note: the organization has faced criticism for potential conflicts of interest (it sells certification seals to companies whose products pass testing).
