Mattes, PhD, MPH, RD, is a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Foods and Nutrition at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana, and director of the Ingestive Behavior Research Center. His research focuses on hunger, satiety, food preferences, and the physiological effects of dietary fat and energy-dense foods. He has published extensively on fluid energy and beverage-related satiety mechanisms.
