Book
Pontzer H. Burn: New Research Blows the Lid Off How We Really Burn Calories, Lose Weight, and Stay Healthy. New York: Avery; 2021.
Why we cite it
Presents Pontzer's constrained energy expenditure research program — including the Hadza hunter-gatherer findings, the cross-population data from cls05, and evolutionary context — in book form for a general audience. Directly relevant to the project because it provides the accessible, narrative explanation of why exercise alone doesn't drive weight loss, making the scientific case for prioritizing dietary change while maintaining exercise for its many non-weight health benefits.
