Comprehensive 34-page review (supplement issue) by an international panel of 17 experts establishing which biomarkers are reliable for evaluating inflammation in human nutritional studies. Key finding: there is no consensus on which single marker best represents low-grade inflammation or distinguishes between acute and chronic forms. Recommends combining multiple markers with kinetic analysis following standardised challenges as the most informative approach.
