Why we cite it
Proposes a conceptual model integrating two previously separate literatures — parents’ own dietary behavior (passive) and food parenting practices (active) — showing how both interact to shape children’s dietary behavior through the home food environment. Distinguishes overt vs covert control, identifies parenting context and child characteristics as moderators, and argues parents with unhealthy diets need stronger food parenting practices to compensate.
