Beck JS. The Beck Diet Solution: Train Your Brain to Think Like a Thin Person. Birmingham, AL: Oxmoor House; 2007. 336 p.

Why we cite it

Applies cognitive behavioural therapy principles to weight loss and eating behaviour. The core method involves identifying distorted thoughts that lead to overeating (rationalisations, excuses, all-or-nothing thinking) and developing pre-planned cognitive responses. Relevant to companion 369 as the clinical foundation for the excuse-counter exercise (listing excuses and creating counters is essentially Beck's CBT technique applied to eating), and to companion 374 as a resource on cognitive strategies for managing slips and relapses. Not a research work — a practical self-help book applying established CBT principles to a specific domain.
